Senior BJP leader Subal Bhowmik strongly criticised TIPRA Motha minister Animesh Debbarma over his comments on Tripura’s law and order situation. Bhowmik called the minister’s statement childish and politically motivated.

Recently, Animesh Debbarma claimed that TIPRA Motha could restore law and order within three months if the Home portfolio were handed to them. He also accused Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha of failing to run the Home Department effectively.

Bhowmik Defends Government Performance

In response, Subal Bhowmik spoke at a press conference held at the BJP state headquarters in Krishnanagar, Agartala. He firmly rejected the accusations and said the situation in Tripura remains stable.

According to him, a few individuals tried to disturb peace in certain areas. However, he added that the administration acted quickly and initiated legal action, ensuring the situation stayed under control.

Reaction to Khumulwng Incident

When asked about the alleged incident in Khumulwng—where agitators reportedly confined police personnel—Bhowmik avoided a direct answer. Instead, he criticised the act and argued that such behaviour reflects the style of politics once seen during the CPM rule.

Moreover, he suggested that such actions harm democratic values and public trust.

Recruitment Decision Welcomed

During the press briefing, Bhowmik also thanked Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and the Council of Ministers. The appreciation followed Transport and Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury’s announcement regarding the recruitment of 400 new personnel.

He said this step demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to development under the slogan Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. Furthermore, he expressed confidence that the new recruitment will strengthen administrative efficiency.

BJP Condemns Attacks on Workers

Bhowmik also addressed reports of attacks on BJP workers, allegedly carried out by TIPRA Motha supporters. He mentioned incidents of arson at party offices and assaults in Khumulwng.

Even so, he described these incidents as isolated and reassured that police already took legal steps against those responsible. Additionally, he urged political parties to maintain peace and avoid actions that may escalate tensions.
