Central paramilitary forces will start arriving in Tripura in the last week of December for assembly elections. The chief election officer of Tripura held a meeting on their deployment. District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to prepare specific plans in this regard.
Yesterday, Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gite, IAS held a preliminary meeting at the state secretariat regarding the deployment of central paramilitary forces in the upcoming 2023 assembly elections. The meeting was attended by State Police Nodal Officer GS Rao, IPS(IGP), IG(CRPF), Secretary of Transport Department, Officer of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs Department among others.
The Chief Electoral Officer expressed hope that the first batch of central paramilitary forces would arrive in Tripura by rail by the last week of this year. Railway officials have been informed to prepare the railway station for their arrival. District Magistrates have been informed to arrange transport, accommodation and other facilities.
The Transport Department will assist the District Magistrates for the movement of Central Paramilitary Force jawans. The Department of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs will provide LPG cylinders and other essential items for the paramilitary forces. All hospitals and primary health centers under the supervision of the Health Department will provide free health services to all Central Paramilitary personnel coming on election duty. All District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been directed to prepare a concrete plan for the deployment of central paramilitary forces. Basically, the order was given with a view to conduct the upcoming elections in an entirely peaceful manner.
