The Central Government has released funds to states for 2024–25 and 2025–26 under the Fifteenth Finance Commission (15th FC) grants for Rural Local Bodies. The Ministry of Finance announced the release on Tuesday after reviewing all documents from beneficiary states. Each state submitted the required Grant Transfer Certificates and met the eligibility rules listed in the 2021 operational guidelines.
Tripura’s Allocation Under the 14th Finance Commission
The Central Government has released funds to states for 2024–25 and 2025–26 under the Fifteenth Finance Commission (15th FC) grants for Rural Local Bodies. The Ministry of Finance announced the release on Tuesday. Moreover, the funds followed the submission of Grant Transfer Certificates by beneficiary states. Each state also met the mandatory eligibility conditions listed in the 2021 operational guidelines.

Tripura’s Funding Under the 14th Finance Commission
Tripura received steady support during the Fourteenth Finance Commission period. Data presented in the Lok Sabha shows that the state received ₹335.67 crore between 2015–16 and 2019–20. Furthermore, Tripura received full allocations during the first three years. However, the releases in 2018–19 and 2019–20 were slightly lower than the approved amounts.
Consistent Grants Under the 15th Finance Commission
Tripura continues to receive regular assistance under the Fifteenth Finance Commission. As of 2 December 2025, the state received:
- ₹191 crore in 2020–21
- ₹141 crore in 2021–22
- ₹147 crore in 2022–23
- ₹148 crore in 2023–24
- ₹156.31 crore against an allocation of ₹157 crore for 2024–25
Additionally, the Centre approved ₹153 crore for 2025–26. Consequently, these funds highlight the government’s consistent support for rural development across the state.
Grants Allocated to 28 States Nationwide
Across India, 28 states received a combined allocation of ₹48,573 crore under the 15th Finance Commission grants for Rural Local Bodies. Moreover, these funds help strengthen rural governance and support essential services such as water supply, sanitation, and small-scale infrastructure. In addition, the grants allow Gram Panchayats to take up community-focused projects with greater financial stability.
Government Clarifies Beneficiary Data
The Union Government clarified that it does not maintain data on the exact number of families or individuals benefiting from projects funded through these grants. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh shared this information in the Lok Sabha on 9 December 2025. Furthermore, he explained that the grants focus on improving institutional capacity rather than tracking individual beneficiaries.

With continued financial support, the Centre aims to strengthen grassroots planning and improve rural service delivery. Additionally, the steady flow of funds shows the government’s commitment to decentralised development. Consequently, Panchayati Raj Institutions gain more capacity to address local needs and deliver community-level improvements.
