Manik Saha, Tripura Chief Minister said he has not been made the Chief Minister of Tripura for only the next 3,4 0r 7 years, he will be leading his victory in the coming polls. The statement of the Chief Minister shows a very significant role as the election to the Tripura Assembly is expected to be held around 8months from now i.e in 2023, in February.  The campaigning for the June 23 by-polls to four Assembly seats, IANS quoted Manik Saha quoted in a party meeting as “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP J.P Nadda have extended the trust in me. This is not the right platform to disclose everything”.

Manik Saha (BJP leader and a Rajya Sabha member from Bordowali Assembly constituency) is contesting the elections for the first time to become a member of the Assembly within 6 months.

The by-polls were necessitated after the resignation of three BJP MLAs and the death of the CPI-M legislator. Amid resentment against then former CM Biplab Kumar, three MLAs-Sudip Roy Barman, Ashish Kumar Saha and Ashis Das had quit BJP and Assembly.

On Saturday, in New Delhi, the former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb reportedly held a meeting with party chief JP Nadda and met Kailash Vijayvargiya, general secretary of BJP and on Monday, at Agartala met with party in charge Binod Sarkar. Biplab Kumar Deb twitted “In all these meetings, we have discussed the strategies about by-elections”.

The congress, Trinamool congress also undertook campaigns in all four assembly seats- Bordowali, Agartala, Jubarajnagar and Surma(SC).

As known, Trinamool has submitted a series of complaints to the Election Commission about the political violence ahead of the by-polls.“The BJP’s removal ahead of elections shows that the issues raised by us in the past few months are valid. The people of Tripura now need a change of government and not just the Chief Minister. Those who think it is okay to increase the prices of essential commodities and fuel can vote for the ruling party……”IANS quoted Ghosh saying.
