In a strong message to irate individuals and miscreants, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has warned against physical assaults on doctors while they are on duty. Addressing a conference of doctors and health workers organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and allied organizations on the occasion of ‘Doctors Day,’ Dr. Saha emphasized the need for respectful treatment towards doctors. He stated that doctors diligently carry out their duties, facing numerous difficulties and problems, and their sincere commitment deserves admiration.
During his address at Hall No-1 of Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan, Dr. Saha urged the attending doctors to prioritize service over business. While acknowledging their right to practice privately and earn a livelihood through their acquired knowledge, he emphasized that financial gain should not be their sole focus. The Chief Minister commended the exemplary actions of many doctors who provide services to the underprivileged, often without charging any fees. He stressed that this selfless act should be an ideal for every doctor, with service to the people being their top priority.

He praised Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy as not only a legendary doctor but also a great freedom fighter and a prominent leader who served as Chief Minister of West Bengal for many years. Dr. Saha encouraged doctors to emulate Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy’s dedication and emphasized the importance of observing Doctors Day annually with enthusiasm and dedication.
