CoE of Gauhati University Suspended

Dr. Dhruwajyoti Choudhury, the Controller of Examination(CoE) at the University of Gauhati was suspended with due effect on Thursday, August 18. This significant move of the Disciplinary Authority of the University to suspend Dr. Choudhury came after anomalies in the examination process and the delay in the declaration of the undergraduate examination results this year.

“Pending drawal of Disciplinary Proceedings, Dr. Dhruwajyoti Choudhury, Controller of Examinations, Gauhati University is placed under suspension with immediate effect until further order because of anomaly and delay in declaration of results of the Undergraduate Examinations of Gauhati University in the year 2022.”, reads the statement order passed by the University higher authorities.

The order also adds, “This is executed in exercise of the power conferred by Rule 6 of Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964,”

Dr. Chowdhury is being temporarily replaced by Dr. Debahari Talukdar, Deputy Controller of Examinations (DCoE), for the time being. Talukdar has been appointed to fulfill the additional duty along with his current post of a DCoE.

A separate order statement by the University appointing Talukdar in the position reads,  “As per approval of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, G.U. dated 18.08.2022, Dr. Debahari Talukdar, Deputy Controller of Examinations; G.U. is hereby assigned the additional responsibility of the Controller of Examinations /c, G.U. in addition to his normal duties with immediate effect until further order.” “Dr. Debahari Talukdar is requested to take over the charge from Dr. Dhruwajyoti Choudhury, Controller of Examinations, G.U. and submit a joining report to the undersigned with a copy to the Treasurer, G.U,” it further mentions.
