Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera labeled Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as a ‘Gaddar’ (traitor). The strong remarks were made during a media briefing in Guwahati, Assam.
Allegations of Betrayal
Expressing his disapproval, Pawan Khera stated, “We regard him as a Gaddar (traitor). A person who was not loyal to us, how can he be loyal to them? He calls himself the Mama (maternal uncle) of Assam, but there was another Mama from Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Chauhan. What happened to him? The same fate awaits Himanta Biswa Sarma.”
Questioning Sarma’s loyalty, Khera asked, “How can we expect someone who betrayed the Congress to remain faithful to Narendra Modi?” He further suggested that Sarma, in trying to maintain contact with the Congress, might be apprehensive about his future if the BJP were to face a setback.
Asserting the party’s stance, Khera declared, “Rest assured, we won’t welcome him back. Many BJP leaders are in touch with the Congress. Himanta Biswa Sarma has developed a habit of lying after joining the BJP, trying to outdo even the Prime Minister in deceit. Since the BJP announced its list, many BJP leaders have reached out to us.”
