CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury has denounced the recent attack on a public gathering organized for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme in the Asharambari constituency of Tripura.
The incident occurred during the monthly radio broadcast on Sunday, where local BJP supporters had organized a community listening session. According to eyewitnesses, a group of unidentified individuals disrupted the peaceful event, leading to chaos and tension in the area.
Speaking to reporters, Jitendra Chaudhury stated, “Any kind of violence or attempt to suppress democratic expression is unacceptable. Our party does not support such acts, regardless of political alignment. The people of Tripura have the right to participate in any public event peacefully.”
He urged the state administration to conduct a fair investigation and ensure the culprits are brought to justice. Chaudhury also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and democratic harmony in the politically sensitive state.
The Asharambari incident has sparked concerns about growing political tensions in the lead-up to the 2026 Tripura Assembly elections. Local authorities are yet to confirm any arrests but assured that the matter is under active investigation.
