Deputy Chief Engineer of Northeast Frontier Railways Faces Charges in Disproportionate Assets Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against a Deputy Chief Engineer (Survey/Construction) of Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) in a disproportionate assets case. The accused, who was posted at Maligaon in Guwahati, Assam, is alleged to have amassed assets worth Rs.2,15,28,395/- (approximately) during the check period from 01.01.2013 to 31.12.2019, which is 89.96% more than his known sources of income.

The CBI had registered a case against the accused on November 30, 2021, based on allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Searches were conducted at two places in Jorhat and Guwahati on the premises of the accused, which led to the recovery of documents related to immovable properties, locker keys, etc.

After a thorough investigation, the CBI has filed a chargesheet against the accused. It is important to note that the accused is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
