The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Dhubri made its presence felt ahead of the Panchayat Elections by releasing the final list of candidates for three major constituencies. BJP District President Ranjit Kumar Ray led the announcement at a press briefing held at the party office, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhawan. The meeting drew the attention of local political observers, supporters, and party workers, who gathered to witness the party’s strategic move toward securing rural governance.
Ray confirmed the completion of a meticulous candidate selection process, which he said involved rigorous internal consultation and feedback from grassroots-level workers. He stressed that the party placed trust in individuals who demonstrated unwavering commitment, public service experience, and a clean image in the eyes of the electorate. He also stated that the BJP would contest all seats with full confidence and community backing.
During the announcement, Ray emphasized the BJP’s focus on good governance and rural development. He underlined the importance of the Panchayati Raj system as the foundation of democracy and local empowerment. He explained that the party’s decision to field experienced as well as young candidates aimed to strike a balance between wisdom and fresh energy. Ray further claimed that the BJP’s candidates would serve as “agents of change” across the constituencies.
Local BJP leaders expressed optimism that the candidates would carry forward the party’s welfare agenda. They highlighted various developmental initiatives led by the state and central governments, ranging from road connectivity and drinking water schemes to rural electrification and housing under PMAY. Several speakers at the briefing echoed the view that the BJP’s track record in governance would help swing voter sentiment in their favor.
Party workers in Dhubri greeted the candidate list with enthusiasm. They pledged to begin door-to-door campaigns immediately and to connect with voters through outreach programmes and personal interactions. Posters, banners, and digital media strategies are also expected to support the campaign efforts across villages and hamlets.
The BJP also made a strong appeal to first-time voters. Ray acknowledged the growing awareness among youth and encouraged them to actively participate in shaping local governance. He said that the party’s campaign would highlight opportunities available under various skill development schemes and self-employment programmes. He also reiterated the importance of youth involvement in building corruption-free and efficient village-level administration.
In the run-up to the polls, Ray urged party workers to maintain discipline and focus on voter issues. He warned against complacency and encouraged constant engagement with citizens, especially on matters such as access to basic services, timely delivery of government schemes, and grievance redressal. The party also announced the formation of booth-level committees to monitor election preparation.
The opposition, meanwhile, responded cautiously. Some leaders from rival parties accused the BJP of attempting to hijack local governance with promises that were yet to be fulfilled. However, BJP leaders dismissed these remarks and urged the public to judge the party’s work based on visible change and not rhetoric.
The BJP’s campaign will likely focus on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s development push in Assam. Dhubri, a district known for its diversity and challenges in infrastructure, is expected to witness a vibrant contest as the BJP prepares to test its organizational strength in the grassroots electoral arena.
As the Panchayat poll schedule draws closer, BJP leaders in Dhubri plan to intensify outreach efforts and connect with community leaders, women’s groups, farmers, and youth organizations. Ranjit Kumar Ray stated that the party would keep transparency at the forefront and ensure that their representatives remain accountable to every household they serve. The BJP now looks set to make a determined push to expand its rural footprint and consolidate support in one of Assam’s politically active districts.
