Since the elections are around the corner, the Election Commission of India came to Tripura for launching a voter awareness program. Some officers of ECI have come to Tripura for rectifying and improving the facilities of voters. The Election Commission of India has appointed Dr. Ranavir Singh and Santosh Ajmera for looking after the SVEEP (systematic voter education and electoral participation).

The sole purpose of the awareness program is to improve the facilities of disabled people. There should be an ease for them to come and vote. Facilities like a wheelchair, sign language with volunteers, ballot papers, ramps, etc must be present at the polling stations. These things will be very convenient for voters during the election of the Tripura Legislative Assemble.

On arrival of officers of ECI, firstly they looked after the SVEEP plan to modify it. Further, they were discussing the program with District Election Officers and collectors via a video conference with Chief Electoral Officer. In the review meeting of the voter’s program, all the officers from the election department were present. Also, District Nodal Officers and the Additional CEO attend the meeting.

ECI Suggestion to DM

The officials advised for improvement of the facility of voters in the state. Looking at the voting percentage, in 2013, it was 91.82%, and in 2018, it was 89.38%. So the ECI officers have asked the DMs to rectify the lower areas of voters and spread awareness. They said the DMs to increase the voting percentage up to the percentage of the 2013 elections.

Moreover, the Election Commission of India has advised spreading awareness throughout the state. Organizing programs in every area and telling about the facility to people can increase the voter’s percentage. Audiovisuals videos, posters, jingles, etc to use and create a huge awareness. These things will keep the voters engaged in the election.
