More than 200 houses and shops were gutted in a massive fire in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday. The officers provided this information. According to a senior official, several cylinders exploded due to the fire in Lahorijan market and a nearby residential area, while a vehicle caught fire.
He said, ‘Several fire engines were deployed from Bokajan and Dimapur in Nagaland to control the fire. It took some time to control the fire completely. The official said that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but it is suspected that the fire broke out due to short circuit.
He said, ‘There is no information about any casualty in the incident. But due to the fire, property worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes, more than 200 houses and shops were burnt.
