Tripura Police once again succeeded in creating a drug-free Tripura. On Monday night, in an operation based on secret information, 5 people were caught in the net of the security forces while selling drug paraphernalia from the area adjacent to Battala flyover and bridge. Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ajay Kumar Das said that 8 grams of brown sugar was recovered in a joint operation by OC Inspector Jayant Kumar Dey of West Police Station and OC Sub Inspector Tapan Das of Battala Outpost. He said that the market value of the recovered brown sugar is approximately Tk 22 thousand.
He also said that there have been allegations of selling drugs in Battala area for several days. On Monday night, police arrested 5 people with drug paraphernalia from the area adjacent to Battala flyover and bridge. The five arrested are Sushant Chakraborty alias Thakur, a resident of Amtali fish market area, Shibu Das, a resident of Durga Chaumuni area, Amir Miya, a resident of Rajnagar area, Prasenjit Burman, a resident of Hanging Bridge area, Sandeep Saha, a resident of Baradoali Chowdhury Bari area.
Sadar SDPO claimed that for a long time they were involved in the sale of drug paraphernalia in the area adjacent to Battala market. Ajay Kumar Das said that such operations will continue tomorrow to make Battala area free of drugs.
