In a major crackdown on illegal cross-border movement, four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested today at Agartala Railway Station for unauthorized entry into India. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the Government Railway Police (GRP) launched a special operation during which the four individuals were apprehended.
Sources confirmed that during routine verification at the station, the individuals failed to produce valid travel documents. Upon further interrogation, it was revealed that they had crossed into Indian territory without proper authorization. They have now been booked under provisions of the Foreigners Act.
Officials informed the media that the arrested individuals are currently undergoing intensive questioning to determine their purpose of travel and whether they were linked to any larger network of illegal migration or other unlawful activities. Their movements before reaching Agartala are also under scrutiny.
The arrests have triggered heightened security measures at railway stations and border checkpoints across Tripura. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to stay on high alert to prevent any similar breaches.
This incident has once again spotlighted the persistent challenges faced by security forces in managing the sensitive India-Bangladesh border, especially in Tripura, which shares a long international boundary with Bangladesh.
Authorities reassured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain law and order. The arrested individuals will be presented before the court after the completion of preliminary investigations.
Meanwhile, senior officials have emphasized the need for stricter surveillance and urged citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity in their vicinity.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for further updates.
