Investigation of the Death of dozens of children in the Gambia that according to the World Health Organization (WHO) is linked with cough syrup made in India. Two people from India’s health ministry informed Reuters on Thursday.
UN agency is investigating the deaths from acute kidney injuries with India’s drug regulator and New Delhi-based cough syrup manufacturer called Maiden Pharmaceuticals told the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday.
After months of launching an investigation with state authority in tandem with the WHO probe the Drug Controller General of India was informed.
The Syrup was exported only in the West African Nation by Maiden manufacturers.
The WHO is being asked by the Indian government to share its report linking the deaths with cough syrup and said “all required steps in the matter will be taken.”
