During an event at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar, he emphasized that a systematic blend of scientific training, technology, and adventure-based learning could transform Arunachal’s youth into high-performing athletes.

The Governor expressed his belief that Arunachal Pradesh possesses immense potential to become a leading contributor to India’s sports ecosystem. He stated that with proper institutional support and research-based training, the state could nurture world-class athletes while promoting tourism and adventure-based education.

Linking Sports Science and Adventure for Holistic Development

Governor Parnaik highlighted the need for merging sports science with adventure activities to create a holistic and performance-driven sports culture. According to him, sports are no longer about raw talent alone; they demand a combination of physiology, psychology, and data-driven analysis. He said that sports science, when paired with adventure disciplines like mountaineering, trekking, and rafting, can improve endurance and discipline among young athletes.

He pointed out that Arunachal Pradesh’s unique geography provides a natural environment for adventure-based sports. “Our terrain is ideal for developing athletes with strength, stamina, and resilience,” he remarked. He further noted that the fusion of adventure training and sports science could make Arunachal sports excellence a reality.

The Governor called upon educational institutions to incorporate sports science into their curriculum. He also urged local sports academies to collaborate with universities and research organizations for professional guidance. Such partnerships, he said, would ensure the development of evidence-based training programs tailored to the needs of athletes from the region.

Promoting Arunachal as a Hub of Sports and Adventure

Lt. General Parnaik emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh’s diverse topography—ranging from snow-capped mountains to dense forests—makes it a perfect location for establishing a sports excellence hub. He envisioned adventure sports as both a training ground for athletes and a key driver of tourism.

He further suggested setting up specialized institutions that focus on sports physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and mental conditioning. These institutions could serve as research centers for understanding the challenges faced by sportspersons from high-altitude regions.

The Governor encouraged local governments and sports bodies to identify potential athletes early and provide them with proper exposure through national-level training camps. He also proposed regular adventure and fitness programs for school students to develop physical strength and leadership skills from a young age.

Additionally, he urged private organizations and non-profits to invest in sports infrastructure, noting that public-private partnerships could play a vital role in advancing the Arunachal sports excellence initiative.

Collaboration and Technology in Modern Sports Training

Highlighting the role of modern technology in enhancing athletic performance, Governor Parnaik spoke about the importance of digital analytics and performance tracking. He mentioned that wearable fitness devices and motion analysis tools could help athletes measure their growth accurately.

He encouraged sports coaches to undergo continuous professional development to stay updated with modern techniques. According to him, scientific training and technology-driven evaluation are key components for achieving global-level success.

The Governor also called for the establishment of state-of-the-art training facilities in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and defense institutions. He said these collaborations would help Arunachal Pradesh gain access to expertise in both sports science and adventure training.

Moreover, he recommended that the state government introduce scholarships and incentives for students excelling in sports science or adventure-related disciplines. These steps, he explained, could motivate young people to pursue careers in sports research, coaching, and management.

Building a Future of Discipline, Strength, and National Pride

Lt. General Parnaik concluded by asserting that sports and adventure are not merely physical pursuits—they are tools for character building and nation-building. He emphasized that a strong sports culture can instill discipline, teamwork, and patriotism among youth.

He envisioned that, through focused efforts and proper training, Arunachal Pradesh could soon emerge as a powerhouse in both national and international sporting arenas. “Arunachal sports excellence must become synonymous with resilience, intelligence, and innovation,” he said.

He also assured that Raj Bhavan would continue to support programs promoting physical fitness and sports innovation in partnership with various departments.

The Governor’s call for integrating sports science with adventure disciplines has been widely appreciated by sports associations and youth organizations across the state. Many believe this initiative could mark a turning point in Arunachal Pradesh’s journey towards becoming India’s hub of sports excellence.
