Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha reiterated on Sunday that India’s fight against terrorism will persist, emphasizing that both state and national security agencies are on high alert to ensure safety and peace. As the state home minister, Saha shared his insights into how Tripura is addressing border security, especially in light of rising tensions in the region.
Saha, who frequently monitors the India-Bangladesh border situation, assured the public that the situation is being closely observed by all relevant agencies. “We are fully committed to tackling any challenges that arise and will take appropriate action as the situation demands,” said the Chief Minister.
Reacting to reports of Pakistan’s ceasefire violation, despite their previous commitments to stop firing towards India, Saha remained cautious, stating, “Let us see how the situation develops.” He urged the Central and state forces to work in synchrony, particularly in light of the India-Pakistan tensions.
In a statement to the media, Saha mentioned that he had held discussions with senior security officials, instructing them to maintain tight coordination in dealing with both border-related issues and other developments. The Chief Minister underscored the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are actively involved in handling the prevailing situation.
Despite rising concerns in other parts of the country, Saha reassured the public that Tripura remains peaceful and normal. “The situation across Tripura is completely normal, and there is no cause for concern,” he stated.
With an 856 km border with Bangladesh, Tripura is surrounded on three sides by the neighboring country. In response to security concerns, a BSF (Border Security Force) official confirmed that their vigilance has been heightened. Since last year’s violence in the neighboring region, security measures have been further intensified, especially following the Pahalgam terror attack. The official added that senior BSF officials are continuously monitoring the border situation to ensure that all measures are in place for the state’s safety.
