Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha reaffirmed that the Tripura Govt committed to Janajati development remains one of the administration’s strongest priorities. Addressing a public gathering, he said the government is working consistently to empower Janajati communities through improved infrastructure, better education, enhanced healthcare services and expanded economic opportunities. He explained that inclusive development is the backbone of the state’s long-term vision.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the government’s welfare model revolves around equitable growth. Since a significant portion of the population belongs to Janajati communities, tailored schemes have been designed to address their needs. He mentioned that roads, drinking water, housing facilities, and livelihood programmes have expanded rapidly in Janajati-majority regions. Because of these initiatives, many remote areas are witnessing rapid transformation.

He added that the Tripura Govt committed to Janajati development also focuses on strengthening self-reliance. Capacity-building programmes, skill development sessions and access to modern tools have helped young people gain better employment prospects. The Chief Minister noted that new training centres have been set up to help youth explore opportunities in IT, tourism, agriculture and entrepreneurship.
According to him, education remains a powerful tool for changing lives. Therefore, the government has prioritised building more hostels, improving school infrastructure and increasing scholarship support. These steps have encouraged higher enrolment among learners from Janajati backgrounds. He said that helping students pursue higher education will enable communities to thrive and participate in larger growth opportunities.
Healthcare development has also advanced in Janajati areas. The Chief Minister highlighted that new health sub-centres, upgraded facilities and mobile health units are improving access to medical services. He said that early diagnosis, maternal health programmes and immunisation drives have achieved significant progress because of improved outreach.
Tripura Govt Committed to Janajati Development Through Cultural and Economic Strengthening
CM Saha stressed that economic empowerment must go hand in hand with cultural preservation. Since Tripura’s Janajati communities have rich traditions, it is essential to protect their cultural identity. He mentioned that initiatives supporting traditional crafts, folk arts and community festivals have created new livelihood avenues. Training programmes for artisans, along with market linkages, are helping local products reach wider audiences.
He said the Tripura Govt committed to Janajati development also focuses on enhancing agricultural productivity. Many families depend on farming, so the administration has promoted crop diversification, modern techniques and sustainable practices. Better irrigation support and high-quality seeds are enabling farmers to improve yields and income. Additionally, horticulture schemes have encouraged the cultivation of pineapple, jackfruit, turmeric and various spices.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is also improving connectivity in remote regions. New roads, bridges and transport services are strengthening access to markets, schools and hospitals. He said that connectivity boosts trade and helps communities feel more included in the state’s economic progress. As a result, these areas are slowly becoming growth hubs.
He also stressed that the empowerment of Janajati women remains a priority. Many self-help groups have been established to help women gain financial independence. These groups receive training in small business management, food processing, tailoring and handicrafts. Because of this support, many women are now contributing significantly to household income.
The government has also worked on improving digital access in Janajati regions. The Chief Minister said that internet connectivity and digital literacy programmes help young people explore online opportunities. This ensures that no one gets left behind in a rapidly advancing digital era. He added that digital services also help residents access welfare schemes more easily.
According to him, sports remain a powerful tool for uplifting Janajati youth. Since many young people are naturally talented in athletics, the government is investing in sports facilities, coaching camps and competitions. These opportunities help talented youth pursue professional sports careers while developing discipline and confidence.
He reaffirmed that the Tripura Govt committed to Janajati development includes ensuring better housing for all. Several families have benefitted from housing schemes under state and central programmes. These houses provide security and dignity, encouraging families to focus on education and livelihood activities without worrying about basic shelter.
The Chief Minister noted that the administration values cooperation with community leaders. Their guidance helps the government implement schemes effectively. Since they understand local needs closely, their involvement ensures that development programmes create lasting impact.
