Kamrup district conducted a tribal outreach and awareness camp under the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan at the Integrated District Office Complex in Amingaon on Thursday. The initiative aims to connect tribal communities with essential welfare schemes and government services.
District Push for Welfare Scheme Saturation
The event, organized by the Kamrup district administration, witnessed large participation from Scheduled Tribe (ST) beneficiaries across the district. Also, senior government officials, local representatives, and community leaders came together to promote transparency, accessibility, and equity in the delivery of welfare programmes.
Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, who inaugurated the camp. Further, highlighted that the Janbhagidari Abhiyan seeks to bring services directly to the people.
“Our goal is 100% saturation of government schemes. No eligible beneficiary should be left behind,” she said. Besides, encouraging citizens to come forward and enrol under flagship schemes. Like PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and PM Ujjwala Yojana.
Camps to Raise Awareness and Dispel Misinformation
The awareness camp featured stalls from multiple departments, including Health, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Education, and Panchayat & Rural Development.
Special sessions were held on land rights, women’s empowerment, tribal scholarships, and access to healthcare. Moreover, beneficiaries were offered on-the-spot enrolment in Aadhaar-linked services and real-time grievance redressal.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Manisha Kalita said:
“Many tribal families are not aware of what benefits they are entitled to. Perhaps, through this Abhiyan, we are bridging the information gap.”
Positive Response from the Tribal Community
Hundreds of tribal residents from Boko, Chaygaon, and Rani blocks attended the outreach camp. In addition to, many received free health checkups, ration card updates. Also, agricultural equipment demonstrations.
Lakshmi Boro, a 55-year-old attendee from Boko, said, “For the first time, we were able to apply for gas connections, pensions, and health cards in one place. I’m very thankful for this effort.”
Furthermore, officials confirmed that over 2,000 people were assisted in one day. The administration plans to replicate similar camps in other backward. And, interior tribal regions of the district over the coming weeks.
Aligns with National Vision for Tribal Welfare
The Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan is a nationwide campaign launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to commemorate the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Also, it aims to bring governance to tribal doorsteps and ensure 100% benefit coverage.
Kamrup’s initiative is in sync with this national vision, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.”
Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda, in a recent address, praised Assam’s rapid strides in tribal welfare and noted the importance of community participation in governance.
Government Vows Continued Outreach
Deputy Commissioner Jalli assured that such efforts will continue throughout the year. “The administration will ensure that no village, no hamlet is left untouched. Additionally, we are committed to accountability, accessibility, and inclusivity,” she added.
Feedback forms collected during the event will help departments fine-tune delivery mechanisms and tackle local challenges more effectively.
