A shocking incident from Kanchanmala under the Golaghati Assembly constituency has sparked controversy. BJP booth president Vikash Rishidas has allegedly eloped with another woman, and the news has quickly spread across the community. Previously, Vikash served as the long-time president of booth number 11. He lived with his wife, Malati Moni Das, and their two children. According to neighbours, the family appeared stable and peaceful.

Affair Allegations Surface

However, residents later revealed that Vikash had developed a relationship with Ratna Rishidas from Ananda Nagar. Ratna is also married. Soon after the affair began, Malati discovered the situation and repeatedly tried to convince her husband to end it. Despite her efforts, Vikash continued meeting Ratna and refused to change his behaviour.

Disappearance and Search

On November 21, Vikash suddenly went missing from his home. Since his mobile phone remained switched off, suspicion grew immediately. Malati then informed her parents and neighbours, and soon the news reached local BJP members. As a result, BJP workers and community members joined the search. Even after hours of effort, no one could trace Vikash or Ratna.

Police Complaint Filed

After the unsuccessful search, Malati decided to approach the authorities. She visited Amtoli Police Station and filed an FIR against her husband. Police officials assured her that they would investigate and make efforts to locate both individuals. Since then, the police team has started tracing communication records and possible routes.

Political Impact and Public Reaction

The incident has now embarrassed the local BJP leadership. Party sources said that disciplinary action will likely follow. Once the matter reaches the party headquarters in Agartala, the leadership may expel Vikash from the organisation. Meanwhile, the community response has remained strong. Many residents expressed disappointment and concern, arguing that such incidents reflect a growing moral decline.

Furthermore, locals believe that easier communication through mobile phones and social media has encouraged secret relationships and weakened family values. The incident has therefore reignited discussions about rising family disputes and changing social behaviour.

Investigation Continues

For now, police are continuing the investigation, and the search is still underway. The community remains alert as more details may surface in the coming days.
