The last rites of Agniveer Mudavath Murali Naik were performed with full state honours on Sunday at his native village, Kalli Thanda, in Sri Sathya Sai district. The 23-year-old soldier was martyred during an exchange of fire at a reserve area in Jammu and Kashmir, as part of the ongoing operation ‘Sindoor.’
Naik’s sacrifice, which took place around 2 am on Friday, left the nation in mourning. The brave heart’s valiant service to the country as part of the Agniveer scheme is being remembered by his family, fellow soldiers, and citizens alike. His courageous actions during Operation Sindoor exemplified the commitment and resolve that our forces uphold in protecting the nation.
The funeral ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, military personnel, and local citizens, all of whom paid their respects to the fallen hero. The state honoured Naik’s memory with a guard of honour, and his mortal remains were laid to rest in the presence of his grieving family, friends, and comrades. Mudavath Murali Naik’s family expressed their deep pride in his sacrifice but also highlighted the immense pain of losing such a young, promising individual. His mother, holding back tears, said, “We are proud of his courage, but as a mother, I feel the loss deeply. He gave his life for the safety of the nation, and we will forever be indebted to his bravery.”
