In a notable development aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure in tribal regions, a mortuary van was officially handed over to Kherengbar Community Health Centre (CHC) through the MDC fund of Shri Ganesh Debbarma, Hon’ble Member of District Council (MDC), TTAADC.

The handover programme was formally inaugurated by Bubagra Pradyot Bikram Manikya DebBarma, Hon’ble Chairman of the Autonomous Administrative Reform Committee (AARC), TTAADC. The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of several high-ranking officials and dignitaries from the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Among the key dignitaries present at the event were Shri Jagadish Debbarma, Hon’ble Chairman, TTAADC; Shri Purna Chandra Jamatia, Hon’ble Chief Executive Member (CEM), TTAADC; Shri Biswajit Kalai, Hon’ble MLA; Shri Runiel Debbarma, Hon’ble Executive Member (EM), TTAADC; and Shri Kamal Kalai, Hon’ble EM, TTAADC. Their presence highlighted the importance of the occasion and demonstrated collective commitment toward improving health services in the region.

The mortuary van, funded through the constituency development fund allocated to Shri Ganesh Debbarma, is expected to serve as a vital resource for Kherengbar CHC, enabling the hospital to offer dignified and timely transportation for deceased individuals to their homes. This addition is seen as an important step in addressing logistical challenges often faced in rural healthcare facilities, especially in emergency or post-mortem scenarios.

During the event, the keys of the mortuary van were officially handed over to the hospital authorities, symbolizing the operational readiness of the vehicle for public use. The programme was conducted in accordance with TTAADC protocols and witnessed participation from local administrative and health officials, as well as community representatives.

The initiative falls under the broader vision of the TTAADC to improve essential services across the tribal belt and ensure that basic healthcare and humanitarian facilities are accessible to all, especially in remote and underserved areas.

The programme concluded with a formal address by the attending dignitaries, reaffirming their commitment to further developmental initiatives in healthcare and infrastructure. The mortuary van is now stationed at Kherengbar CHC and will be available for emergency and medical use as per the hospital’s operational guidelines.

This development marks a positive step in enhancing the capacity of rural health centres in Tripura and is expected to ease logistical constraints faced by both the hospital staff and the local community.
