Conducted in collaboration with States and Union Territories, this Economic Census will utilize advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to ensure real-time data validation, geo-coded data collection, and interactive dashboards for enhanced monitoring and supervision.

The announcement was made by Akunu S Meyase, Secretary of Economics & Statistics, during the first State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) meeting, chaired by Nagaland Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam.

What is the Economic Census?

The Economic Census is a nationwide exercise conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) to provide a detailed count of business establishments and workers, with a special focus on the non-agricultural sector. This will be the eighth such census, following the successful completion of seven previous Economic Censuses in collaboration with various states and union territories.

The data collected will play a crucial role in shaping economic policies, business development strategies, and employment programs in Nagaland and across India.
