Nani Ka Pitara isn’t a mere brand, it is a part of the heritage of India which seeks to celebrate the life and achievements of every hardworking woman in our country. It was started with the single aim of saving age old recipes from extinction and to engage the food lovers with authentic homemade delights prepared with love and care just like our grandmother did.
Every jar captures the essence of a carefully cultivated family recipe perfected over decades. Completely free from preservatives and artificial additives, ensuring modern homes are graced with the treasured flavors of ancestral traditions.
A Heartwarming Beginning
Nani Ka Pitara was born in 2020 when the world had come to a pause. Mehak Bansal along with her mother founded Nani Ka Pitara after reminiscing about her childhood days spent inside her grandmother’s kitchen, filled with the aroma of homemade pickles and freshly ground spices.
Mehak, being an architect and all time foodie, wanted to design something for the taste buds that would bring back her childhood and that of millions of other Indians who grew up on Nani ke hath ka khana.
Determined to save this legacy and aid the women who nurtured and preserved it, she set out to provide a homemade flavour to families desperately seeking great food. What started as a modest endeavour of making 5 Kg of Achar each year has now grown to over 500 Kg and more. The demand has kept on rising as the irresistible taste of Nani Ka Pitara has become everybody’s favourite.
Keeping Traditions Alive
Everything from Nani Ka Pitara reflects the affection and effort that goes into homemade cooking. The catalogue is a tribute to the rich culinary heritage of India and encompasses a range of items from the chatpata Aam Achar to the more subtle flavours of Ragi Ladoo.
All Nani Ka Pitara products are prepared using organic ingredients such as spices, cold pressed oils, and seasonal vegetables that are locally grown and are meticulously sun-dried and fermented. The devotion to authenticity shows in the eco-friendly packaging too, as the use of ceramic glass jars guarantees that nature is as much cared for as the people.
Empowering Women and Preserving Heritage
Every jar tells the story of a woman whose life has been changed for the better. At Nani ka Pitara, the artisans, the majority of whom are first-time earners, widows, or housewives, earn directly from their craft. This means that for these women, financial independence is only a small fraction of what is possible. They can now truly reclaim their former selves and work towards a prosperous future for their families. Their earnings from their culinary skills are helping so many children get educated and have better healthcare facilities.
All of this was impossible in so many parts of the country. But the impact does not stop there. Nani ka Pitara is also helping to restore and preserve over 200 endangered recipes which means it is not only saving the taste but also saving the identity for the many generations to come.
Why Every Jar Matters
Choosing Nani Ka Pitara is not just about the experience of consuming authentic cuisine; it is also about appreciating the people who put in so much effort to make it happen. This connection surpasses flavour, providing the comfort of knowing that with each purchase, education is funded, women are empowered, and grandmothers’ wisdom is preserved.
