Durga Puja brought good news for the government employees in Tripura they will be getting nine days of holiday for Durga puja. The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd has allowed temporary electrification of city roads by the puja organizers besides arranging for additional power supply.
Due to covid and the ban on Mass gatherings, Durga Puja was not celebrated by many peoples. As of now, there are no Covid curbs on the puja organizer, not travelers, which brought back the previous festive fervor. The Tripura government has also extended the puja holiday for 10 days for all public establishments from October 2 to 10, previously it was only for 4 days. To ensure an uninterrupted power supply Meghalaya and Mizoram have enhanced their power supply.
Chief Minister Manik Saha addressed, “The government employees used to get four day holiday for Durga Puja and one day for Laxmi Puja except for educational institution. But I felt that it left the employees unhappy. So, we extended the holiday till Laxmi Puja.”
