In a significant development for Tripura’s burgeoning tea industry, NITI Aayog has given the green signal for the establishment of the state’s first-ever Tea Auction Centre. This promising news surfaced during the first review meeting of the recently-inaugurated Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT), presided over by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
The focal point of the meeting was the Chief Minister’s directive to set up the Tea Auction Centre in the Durgabari Tea Estate, situated in Bamutia under West Tripura District. This strategic move is expected to provide a substantial boost to the local tea industry, opening up new avenues for growth and economic prosperity.
Chief Minister Saha, emphasizing the need for timely completion and quality maintenance, reviewed various projects aimed at the overall development and public welfare of the state. He underscored the pivotal role of District Magistrates in ensuring the efficient implementation of programs, asserting that improved project implementation would facilitate better monitoring of activities.
The meeting delved into several critical projects vital for Tripura’s progress, including the National Highway, Agartala to Airport road, infrastructure development of Mata Tripurasundari Temple, Maharaja Birchandra Manikya Modern Art and Cultural Museum at Old Raj Bhavan, Vidyajyoti School, Jal Jeevan Mission, and PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
It was disclosed that a delegation from NITI Aayog had recently visited the state as part of the Tripura Institution for Transformation initiative. The meeting with the delegation resulted in the green signal to establish the tea auction center, marking a pivotal moment for the state’s economic landscape.
In response to this positive development, the Chief Minister urged concerned authorities to expedite the necessary initiatives for the establishment of the tea auction center in the Durgabari area. The move is poised to create a conducive environment for tea producers, traders, and enthusiasts, fostering growth and competitiveness in the local tea market.
During the meeting, secretaries and officers from relevant departments presented detailed information about the current status and progress of ongoing development works. Discussions also centered around addressing challenges in project implementation, with a focus on finding effective solutions to ensure the seamless execution of key initiatives.
