Indian security forces have eliminated over 100 terrorists across several camps inside Pakistan-occupied territories. The operation, which reportedly involved precision airstrikes and special forces units, marks one of the most significant counter-terror actions in recent years. The Indian government has made it clear—this is not the end, and more such actions could follow if hostile activities continue from across the border.
What Happened in Operation Sindoor?
On the night of May 6–7, Indian armed forces launched a multi-pronged operation targeting key terror infrastructure across the Pakistan border. Sources in the defence establishment confirmed that the operation was conducted in response to escalating threats and intelligence inputs indicating the presence of high-value terror operatives in specific regions of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Reports suggest that at least six locations were struck, including terror training camps and launch pads that had been used to push infiltrators into Indian territory. Many of these facilities were under the watch of Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, all of which are Pakistan-based terror outfits known for orchestrating attacks on Indian soil.
The strikes were carried out using a mix of air-launched precision weapons, drones, and ground-based missile systems. Ground forces, including para-commandos, reportedly played a role in confirming and assessing the success of the operation.
Government’s Response: “This Is Not the End”
In a press briefing following the strikes, officials from the Ministry of Defence stated that India reserves the right to respond at a time and place of its choosing. A senior official, while not giving specific details, confirmed that Operation Sindoor was “a calibrated and necessary response to Pakistan’s continued sheltering of terrorist groups.”
Home Minister Amit Shah hinted that future actions are not off the table, saying, “India will not tolerate cross-border terrorism. This action is just a message—we have the will and the capability to dismantle terror infrastructure at its roots.”

International Reactions and Strategic Implications
While there has been no official confirmation from Pakistan, social media and local sources reported loud explosions and blackouts in parts of PoK. Pakistan’s army has downplayed the incident, calling it “a routine border skirmish.” However, satellite imagery and intercepted communications accessed by Indian intelligence reportedly confirm significant damage to terrorist camps.
India’s swift and decisive move has been met with cautious acknowledgment by several global powers. Analysts believe the operation sends a clear message to not just Pakistan but also to other nations that might be harbouring or supporting non-state actors against India.
Strategically, Operation Sindoor aligns with India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism, especially in the lead-up to national elections and amid rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC).
A New Chapter in India’s Anti-Terror Doctrine
Operation Sindoor signals a new era in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, where pinpointed, proactive strikes have replaced reactive condemnations. It shows the integration of intelligence, technology, and military coordination to ensure swift and high-impact results.
The scale and precision of this operation recall the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes, but with even more advanced strategic planning and execution. Defence analysts see this as a sign of how India’s military preparedness and doctrine have evolved to meet the hybrid threats posed by state-sponsored terrorism.
The Road Ahead
With over 100 terrorists neutralized, including several top commanders, Operation Sindoor has undoubtedly struck a blow to terror networks operating out of Pakistan. However, the Indian government’s statements suggest that more such operations may follow if Pakistan fails to dismantle the infrastructure of terror on its soil.
As India continues to maintain high alert along the borders and enhance surveillance, the success of Operation Sindoor might not just lie in the number of terrorists eliminated—but in the deterrence it builds for the future.
