Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Meghalaya capital Shillong on Sunday morning and attended the golden jubilee celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the North-East Council here. PM Modi was seen here in traditional attire. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated various development projects on the occasion. After this, while addressing the program, PM Modi said that the central government is moving forward with new thinking regarding sports today. The youth of the Northeast have benefited from this. The country’s first sports university is in the northeast.

The Prime Minister said, in football, if a player does not play with sportsmanship, he is sent out by showing a red card. In the same way, in the last 8 years, we have shown red cards to many obstacles in the way of development of the Northeast. He said that digital connectivity does not only improve communication and communication. Rather, from tourism to technology, from education to health, facilities and opportunities increase in every field.

PM Modi said that the parties which were in power for a long time had the idea of division for the Northeast and we have come up with the intention of removing the division. Be it different communities or different regions, we are removing all kinds of divisions. The PM said that for us the Northeast is not a border area or an end point, but a gateway to security and prosperity. The security of the nation is also ensured from here and trade with other countries also happens from here.

Targeting the opposition, PM Modi said that before 2014 only ribbons were cut for the schemes here. We spent seven lakh crores on the development of the Northeast. PM Modi said that we are developing the Northeast with all sincerity. We are building a development model. We have ended vote bank politics in the North East. Today the North East is getting an opportunity of cheap air service.

He said that for a long time there is a thinking in the country that there will be development in the border area, if connectivity increases then the enemy will be benefited. Due to this thinking of the previous governments, connectivity could not improve in all the border areas of the country including the North East. Now there is no border of disputes, there is a corridor of development. Today, the work of building new roads, new tunnels, new bridges, new rail lines, new air strips on the border is going on fast. We are engaged in making the border villages which were once deserted, vibrant. We will make Vibrant Border Village.

At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also addressed the golden jubilee celebrations of the North-Eastern Council. He said now a minister visits the North East every 15 days and Narendra Modi has visited the region more than 50 times after becoming the PM. DONER (Development of North Eastern Region) was formed by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and now PM Modi has ensured that all major projects are completed on time.

PM Modi will lay foundation stones and lay foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 6,800 crore during his visit to Meghalaya-Tripura. The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that these projects include projects in various sectors including housing, roads, agriculture, telecommunications, information technology, tourism and hospitality. Apart from this, in Agartala, Modi will launch the ‘Griha Pravesh’ program for more than two lakh beneficiaries under ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban and Rural’.
