Sarma emphasized that India is connected and united. Chief Minister Sarma said that India was partitioned in the year 1947. There is no use in starting Bharat Jodo Yatra now.

During this, Priyanka Gandhi urged people to join the yatra and said that people should unite to make the country prosperous. Rahul Gandhi will start a journey of 3,570 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir lasting about 150 days today. As per the schedule shared by the party, Rahul Gandhi will attend a prayer meeting this morning at the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial in Sriperumbudur, where his father Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a bomb blast. After the memorial visit, Gandhi will visit Kanyakumari where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will present the tricolor to him. The Congress leaders will address a rally marking the official start of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
