Ranjan Daimary Sentenced to Life in Assam Serial Blasts Case, Four Acquitted

The Guwahati High Court on Tuesday upheld the life sentence of Ranjan Daimary, the main accused in the case and NDF(R) chief, in the October 2008 serial blasts case in Assam’s Guwahati city. Earlier, the CBI court had sentenced Ranjan Daimary to life imprisonment. The court upheld the earlier judgment for the nine other accused in the case. Whereas, the court has acquitted four other accused, acquitting them innocent.

Daimary, the founder of the now-disbanded National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), was in jail since 2019 after being convicted by a special court in the serial blasts case that rocked Assam in 2008. Daimary was the main accused in the serial blasts case. The High Court upheld his life sentence. Meanwhile, the court also upheld the earlier verdict for the nine other accused in the case. Whereas, the court acquitted four other accused, acquitting them innocent.
