Shreeji Sharan and Poinsar Gymkhana Senior Citizen Pariwar recently honoured the elderly community of Mumbai by hosting a delightful karaoke evening. The Poinsar Gymkhana Senior Citizen Pariwar Karaoke Competition, held on a bright June 2025 evening, brought together over 1,000 senior citizens for a night to remember.
The vibrant event saw 36 passionate participants perform on stage, each receiving a ‘Best Singer’ trophy, as the evening came alive with music, dance, and heartfelt joy.
One of the most touching scenes was the presence of an 85-year-old member who danced to a well-known melody, making everyone realise that, in truth, there is no age to be happy and express oneself. The participant, met with thunderous applause, cheerfully declared, “Abhi to main jawaan hoon!” The spirit of the event was upbeat, with the room filled with people laughing, dancing, and sharing a night of joy and celebration.
During an emotional moment of the night, the elderly who had attained individual milestones were also honoured by the organisers. Individuals older than 75, as well as couples celebrating 50 years of marriage, were awarded certificates and shawls. These touching recognitions left a lasting impression not only on the participants and their families but on all who were present for this heartwarming event.
As Mr. Mohan Parab, organiser from Poinsar Gymkhana Senior Citizen Pariwar, reflected, “It was not merely a music event. It was all about belonging, togetherness, and the appreciation of the experiences and life journeys of the older adults. It is an honour to give them a space to be celebrated.”
