Students of Techno College of Engineering Agartala (TCEA) have successfully developed a specialized hexacopter drone named ‘Sudarshan’ to boost surveillance along the India–Bangladesh border at the Akhaura Check Post.

The indigenous drone is equipped with a high-resolution camera and an advanced GPS navigation system, enabling it to capture aerial images, track movements, and record precise location data in real time. This cutting-edge technology is expected to provide significant assistance to security forces in identifying illegal crossings, infiltration attempts, and other suspicious activities along the international border.

Developed under the 100% Make in India initiative, the project reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce reliance on costly imported surveillance equipment and promote indigenous technology. The entire design and execution were carried out by TCEA students, showcasing their engineering skills and commitment to national security.

According to college authorities, TCEA has consistently encouraged students to think beyond classroom learning and focus on socially responsible innovations. Through its dedicated platform, TCEA Tools, students have been working on multiple creative projects with real-world applications that can bring long-term societal benefits.

With the support of the Government of Tripura, the ‘Sudarshan’ project is expected to undergo further development. Future upgrades may include thermal imaging and night-vision capabilities, making the drone even more effective in round-the-clock border monitoring.

As ‘Sudarshan’ takes flight over the Akhaura border, it not only strengthens India’s border vigilance but also stands as a proud example of youth-driven innovation, indigenous technology, and social commitment by the students of Techno College of Engineering Agartala.
