The 7th North Eastern Youth Festival-2024, scheduled from February 26 to 29, and the Khelo India Inter University Yoga Competition, taking place from February 17 to 19, are poised to be memorable celebrations of culture and athleticism.
The 7th North Eastern Youth Festival-2024: A Fusion of Culture and Competition
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Tinku Roy, expressed excitement about Tripura hosting the 7th North Eastern Youth Festival. The event, spanning four days, will serve as a dynamic platform for cultural exchange, bringing together youth representatives from the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Sansthan across eight states in the North Eastern region.
Highlighting the festival’s diverse offerings, Minister Roy outlined the array of competitions, including folk music, folk dance, drama, rock band, guitar, clay modeling, drawing, and photography. The festival’s focal point extends beyond competitions, with exhibition stalls featuring traditional food and handicrafts from different states, emphasizing the rich cultural diversity of the North Eastern region.
The primary goal of the festival is to celebrate and recognize the diverse talents present in the North Eastern region, fostering a sense of unity and pride among the youth. Khelo India Inter University Yoga Competition: Showcasing National Yoga Talents
In addition to the Youth Festival, Tripura is gearing up to host the Khelo India Inter University Yoga Competition from February 17 to 19. Minister Roy shared that this prestigious event will witness the participation of 16 teams from various universities across the country, showcasing the nation’s top yoga talents.
With a total of 20 categories, the competition is set to be a comprehensive display of yogic prowess. Fifteen categories will be contested in Assam, while the remaining five will unfold in other North Eastern states. Tripura has been exclusively designated as the host for the yoga competitions, underscoring the state’s commitment to promoting health and wellness.
Minister Roy emphasized that these events not only promote cultural and athletic excellence but also contribute to the overall development of the North Eastern region.
