The State Excise Department has been undertaking raids to stop the everyday manufacture, distribution, and sale of illegal alcohol in Tripura before the assembly elections.
The Indian Election Commission has ordered the raids to be carried out. On February 16, Tripura is expected to hold its assembly elections.
The Excise Department reportedly recovered 225.705 liters of illegal alcohol throughout the State on Sunday. There have been two cases of Excise law violations.
They have thus far captured a total of 6446.175 liters of illegal alcohol, with a value of rupees 13,98,600, after the date of the election’s announcement.
There have been 10 people arrested, and a total of 29 charges have been filed against the people in Tripura.
