Election Schedule Announced

State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar announced the schedule at a press conference in Agartala. Along with him, Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar and Tribal Welfare Director Subasish Das attended the briefing.

He confirmed that polling will take place on April 13, while officials will count votes on April 17. Since the current council’s tenure ends on April 18, the Commission aims to form the new council on time.

Electoral Roll and Constituencies

The election will cover 28 constituencies across TTAADC areas. Notably, 25 seats remain reserved for Scheduled Tribes, while three seats are unreserved.

According to the final electoral roll published on March 13, 2026, a total of 9,62,697 voters can participate. This includes 4,82,025 male voters and 4,80,666 female voters. In addition, six voters belong to the third gender category.

Polling and Administrative Arrangements

To ensure smooth execution, the Commission has appointed election observers and deployed 310 Sector Magistrates for field supervision.

Moreover, authorities will set up 1,257 polling stations across all eight districts of Tripura. Officials will conduct voting through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Security Measures in Place

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar assured strong security arrangements. The police will deploy around 11,000 personnel across TTAADC areas.

Furthermore, officials will implement preventive measures in advance to maintain law and order. As a result, authorities aim to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair election.

Nomination and Election Timeline

The election process will begin with the official notification on March 18, 2026. Candidates can file nominations until March 25, and officials will scrutinize them on March 26.

After that, candidates can withdraw their nominations until March 28. If needed, authorities will conduct re-polling on April 16. Finally, officials will complete the entire process by April 18, 2026.

Model Code of Conduct Enforced

Following the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect across TTAADC areas. Therefore, all political parties, candidates, and government officials must follow the guidelines strictly.

At the same time, the Commission has urged the media to share accurate information and support the smooth conduct of the elections.
