The Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly will begin on March 13, according to an official notification issued on Wednesday. As per parliamentary tradition, the first session of the calendar year will open with the Governor’s address.
During the session, the state government will present the Budget for the financial year 2026–27. The Budget is expected to outline key policy priorities, development projects, and welfare initiatives for the upcoming fiscal year.

Governor to Address Ninth Session
The notification regarding the ninth session of the 13th Assembly was issued by Assembly Secretary A.K. Nath on behalf of Indrasena Reddy Nallu.
The Governor’s address will highlight the government’s achievements over the past year and set the tone for legislative discussions. Lawmakers will subsequently debate policy matters and budgetary proposals during the session.
Officials expect detailed deliberations on financial allocations, infrastructure expansion, and social welfare programmes. The Budget presentation will also reflect the government’s fiscal strategy for 2026–27.
Finance Minister Reviews 2025–26 Budget Progress
Meanwhile, ahead of the Budget Session, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy convened a high-level meeting at the state secretariat on Wednesday.
Senior officials from multiple departments attended the meeting. They reviewed the implementation status of projects and commitments announced in the 2025–26 Budget.
In a social media post, the minister said the discussions focused on assessing ground-level execution of schemes introduced last year. He emphasised that the review holds significance as the government prepares to present the new Budget.
Focus on Accountability and Delivery
Sources indicated that the review exercise aimed to ensure accountability across departments. Officials evaluated progress reports, expenditure patterns, and outcomes of flagship schemes.
The government seeks to measure the actual impact of previously announced initiatives before finalising allocations for 2026–27. This approach allows policymakers to identify gaps and adjust priorities accordingly.
