Tripura Pradesh BJP Mahila Morcha President Mimi Majumder has accused the Indian National Congress of deliberately rewriting Indian history to sideline the contributions of iconic yet overlooked national heroes. Further, speaking at a party event in Agartala on May 22, 2025, Majumder alleged that the Congress distorted real history. By prioritizing political narratives over historical truth.
Majumder strongly criticized how the Congress-era textbooks and historical accounts often ignored or underrepresented figures like Punyasloka Rani Ahilyabai Holkar. “By not giving space to leaders like Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, the Congress distorted real history and robbed young Indians of learning about true nation-builders,” she said.
The BJP leader added that India’s real strength lies in the grassroots leaders. And reformers who worked tirelessly for society without seeking political rewards. Although, she emphasized that the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Moreover, it has been committed to restoring these lost narratives and honoring unsung heroes.
Rani Ahilyabai Holkar and the Politics of Indian History
Rani Ahilyabai Holkar was a legendary 18th-century queen known for her administrative excellence and religious tolerance. Also, despite her enormous contributions, she rarely finds mention in mainstream historical texts. Something Majumder argues is no coincidence. “It was a calculated move to promote dynastic politics over real service,” she claimed.
BJP has increasingly spotlighted leaders like Ahilyabai Holkar, Deendayal Upadhyaya, and others in recent years to reshape the national conversation around history and legacy. In this regard, Majumder’s remarks align with the BJP’s broader ideological mission. Which is reclaiming India’s forgotten icons.

Majumder Urges Youth to Question on Indian History
Majumder appealed to young Indians to re-examine what they’ve been taught and to seek out authentic sources. “Our youth deserve to know the full story—not just the version propagated by those who ruled the country post-Independence,” she noted.
She also pointed out that platforms like the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav have allowed people to rediscover the rich history of India beyond textbook politics. According to her, it is through these platforms. And the initiatives of the BJP government that the truth is finally gaining visibility.
Majumder highlighted how states like Tripura are increasingly organizing seminars and exhibitions to spotlight local freedom fighters and social reformers. Also, she promised that the BJP Mahila Morcha would continue its mission to ensure such contributions receive national recognition.
A Call to Reclaim India’s True Historical Legacy
Wrapping up her speech, Majumder called upon the people of Tripura and across India to join hands in resisting historical distortions. She insisted that the Congress distorted real history by promoting selective memory. And it was now time to correct the record.
“History is not a political tool; it is our shared legacy,” she said. “Every Indian, regardless of political affiliation, should have access to the real stories of our heroes.”
The BJP in Tripura has already announced plans for a state-wide awareness campaign. It is focused on historical literacy. Also, events will include school programs, cultural fairs, and digital outreach to bring hidden heroes to the forefront of public consciousness.
