The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has officially announced the commencement dates for the upcoming board exams. Dr. Dhananjay Gon Chowdhury, the president of TBSE, revealed the schedule during a press conference in Agartala on Tuesday.

The Madhyamik (Class X) exams are set to kick off from March 2, 2024, and will conclude on March 23, 2024. Simultaneously, the Higher Secondary (Class 12) exams will begin on March 1, 2024, and conclude on March 30, 2024.

Dr. Gon Chowdhury highlighted a distinctive feature of this year’s exams – both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary students will sit for their English paper on the first day. This move aims to streamline the examination process and provide a standardized starting point for all candidates.

Notably, the 2024 board exams will see a decline in the number of candidates compared to previous years, attributed to the introduction of the Vidyajyoti Scheme. Dr. Gon Chowdhury mentioned, “We’ve witnessed a decrease in the number of candidates compared to previous years.”

The estimated count for Madhyamik examinees stands at 38,538, while the Higher Secondary exam will have 27,608 candidates. This marks a substantial decrease of approximately 10,000 candidates compared to the last academic year.

To facilitate the smooth conduct of these examinations, 69 centers have been designated for the Madhyamik examination, and 144 venues will host the Higher Secondary exam. These venues are spread across eight districts in the state.

Assuring the stakeholders of the board’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and quality of the examination process, Dr. Gon Chowdhury stated that all necessary measures have been implemented. Despite the decrease in candidate numbers, the TBSE is dedicated to ensuring a fair and efficient examination environment for all students.
