Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha revealed on Thursday (May 02) the state government’s plans to initiate kidney transplant procedures at the state-run GB Pant Hospital in Agartala.
Preparations Underway
Dr. Manik Saha announced that a dedicated team of doctors and staff, trained in Manipur, has returned to Tripura to spearhead the kidney transplant program. Discussions with the principal of AGMC have also been held, indicating active preparations for the imminent launch of these services.
Considering the presence of iron in the water at GB Pant Hospital, plans are underway to install an iron removal plant to improve water quality within the hospital premises. Dr. Saha emphasized the government’s vision to elevate the facility into a center of excellence by leveraging existing infrastructure.
Dr. Manik Saha conducted an inspection of the super-speciality hospital at GB Pant and Agartala Government Medical College. He noted encouraging progress, including office relocations and plans to establish seven super-speciality outpatient departments and wards.
Expressing determination to expedite pending tasks, Dr. Saha underscored the importance of collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD), the electrical department, and other relevant authorities.
