Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday officially launched the Tripura School Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSAAF). This initiative is designed to bridge gaps in the existing school system and promote continuous institutional improvement.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), the TSAAF will evaluate both academic performance and infrastructure standards in schools, ensuring a more accountable and transparent education framework.
“Our mission is to transform every school in Tripura into a centre of excellence, contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” said Dr. Saha during the launch event.
The Chief Minister highlighted Tripura’s remarkable progress in education, announcing that the state has achieved 100% literacy, becoming the third state in India to do so, after Mizoram and Goa.
He also pointed to the impressive academic improvements in Vidyajyoti (CBSE) schools, where Class 10 and Class 12 pass rates surged by 26% and 21%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
Addressing one of the state’s most pressing challenges, Dr. Saha acknowledged the teacher shortage that followed the Supreme Court’s cancellation of 10,323 teaching appointments.
“A vacuum was created in the teaching workforce due to circumstances we are all aware of,” he noted. “However, we are actively addressing this through the Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT). So far, 226 graduate and undergraduate teachers have been appointed, and the recruitment process is ongoing, with a strict focus on merit and quality.”
The TSAAF launch represents a strategic shift in Tripura’s educational policy, aiming to institutionalize accountability, excellence, and student-centric reforms throughout the schooling system.
