Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi on Saturday and invited him to inaugurate the newly redeveloped Mata Tripureswari Temple premises in Matabari, Tripura. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for the central government’s support in preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of the state. He emphasized that the redevelopment of the temple complex would enhance its significance as a major pilgrimage site and boost tourism in the region.

During the meeting, Dr. Saha also discussed Tripura’s need for premier institutions like AIIMS, IIT, and IIM. He urged the Prime Minister to consider establishing these institutions in the state to improve healthcare, technical education, and management studies. He highlighted that Tripura’s youth often migrate to other states for higher education, and setting up these institutions locally would offer them better opportunities without having to leave their home state.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the importance of AIIMS in strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Tripura. He mentioned that while the state has improved its medical facilities, an AIIMS would significantly enhance specialized treatment, research, and medical education. He pointed out that patients currently travel long distances for advanced medical care, and an AIIMS would bring high-quality healthcare closer to the people.

Dr. Saha reiterated the demand for an IIT, stating that it would transform the state into a hub for technological innovation and research. He underlined that Tripura has immense potential in sectors like IT, biotechnology, and renewable energy, and having an IIT would equip students with the skills needed to contribute to these fields. He stressed that a premier technical institute in Tripura would attract investment and create employment opportunities for local youth.

The request for an IIM also took center stage in the discussion. Dr. Saha argued that a top-tier management institute in Tripura would cultivate skilled professionals who could lead businesses and enterprises, further strengthening the state’s economic growth. He noted that management students from Tripura often have to move to other parts of India for quality education, and an IIM would fill that gap by providing world-class training within the state.

Apart from education and healthcare, the Chief Minister also spoke about infrastructure development in Tripura. He informed the Prime Minister about ongoing projects aimed at improving connectivity, including road expansion and railway enhancements. He highlighted that better connectivity would not only facilitate trade and business but also boost tourism in Tripura, especially with the newly redeveloped Mata Tripureswari Temple attracting more visitors.

Dr. Saha thanked the Prime Minister for his continuous support in the development of the northeastern states. He acknowledged the central government’s efforts in ensuring balanced growth across all regions and expressed hope that his requests for AIIMS, IIT, and IIM would receive positive consideration. He also invited the Prime Minister to witness firsthand the transformations taking place in Tripura and the impact of various central schemes on the state’s progress.

The Prime Minister appreciated the Chief Minister’s dedication to the development of Tripura. He assured that the requests would be carefully examined and that the government remains committed to enhancing education, healthcare, and infrastructure across the country, including the northeastern states. He acknowledged the significance of Mata Tripureswari Temple in the cultural fabric of Tripura and expressed interest in visiting the site at an appropriate time.

Following the meeting, Dr. Saha expressed optimism about the future of Tripura. He stated that his government remains focused on bringing the best educational and healthcare facilities to the state while preserving its rich heritage. He reiterated that Tripura is on a path of rapid growth and development, with strong backing from the central government.

The meeting between the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister highlighted Tripura’s aspirations for progress and modernization. With plans for improved healthcare, quality education, and enhanced infrastructure, the state is positioning itself as a key player in the region’s development. The proposed AIIMS, IIT, and IIM could bring transformative changes, ensuring that Tripura’s youth have access to the best opportunities without leaving their home state.
