As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes 11 years in office, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday lauded the period as a “golden era” of governance. Saha praised the government’s emphasis on inclusive growth, sweeping welfare schemes, and a renewed focus on the Northeast.
“We are truly fortunate to have a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi,” Saha said. “This is indeed a golden era for India. The way he is steering the country forward, introducing impactful schemes, and uplifting the poor is commendable.”
Inclusive Growth and Welfare Schemes
Chief Minister Saha highlighted the flagship programs launched since 2014. He cited PM-Kisan, Ujjwala, and Ayushman Bharat as examples of schemes that have reached millions of beneficiaries.
“These programs have redefined social welfare in India. Under PM-Kisan, farmers receive direct payments. Ujjwala has empowered women with clean cooking fuel. Ayushman Bharat ensures health cover for the poor,” Saha noted.
He added that the Tripura government has worked in tandem with the Centre to maximize these benefits. The state’s own Gaon Sarker model and Mamata Yojana have complemented central initiatives.
Revolutionizing the Northeast
A key part of Saha’s tribute was Modi’s unprecedented focus on the Northeastern states. He recalled the PM’s multiple visits and the launch of the Act East Policy.
“No previous leader gave such attention to this region. PM Modi believes that without the development of the Northeast, India cannot progress. This vision will be remembered in golden letters,” the CM said.
Under the Centre’s aegis, projects like the Agartala-Akhaura rail link, upgrade of Agartala Airport, and enhanced road connectivity have transformed regional infrastructure.

Economic Resilience and Job Creation
Saha pointed to India’s sustained GDP growth despite global headwinds. He stressed that policy reforms—such as GST introduction, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, and PLI schemes—have strengthened the economy.
“During the pandemic, India’s swift vaccine rollout and economic packages cushioned millions from hardship. This resilience is the hallmark of strong leadership,” he said.
Tripura’s own IT parks, microfinance expansion, and skill development centres have created local employment in line with national targets.
Call for Continued Public Support
In closing, Manik Saha urged Tripura’s citizens to back the Centre’s mission for the next decade. He called on youth, farmers, and entrepreneurs to leverage central schemes and ensure that the golden era continues.
“Let us work together to make India a five trillion-dollar economy, a global power in clean energy, technology, and social welfare,” he concluded.
