In a step toward ensuring inclusive development and improved public services, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated multiple key projects aimed at boosting infrastructure, law enforcement, and healthcare access across the state. The initiatives underline the government’s commitment to creating citizen-friendly systems while prioritizing the needs of tribal and rural communities.

Speaking at the launch event held at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, Dr. Saha emphasized the state’s focus on inclusive growth and the importance of aligning development with the daily needs of the people.

“Our goal is clear — development must touch the lives of every citizen, especially those in remote and tribal areas. These projects are not just investments in infrastructure, but in the future of Tripura,” he said.

Major Projects Inaugurated By CM

Among the newly inaugurated projects were:

  • A state-of-the-art police outpost in Gomati district aimed at improving local law enforcement response times.
  • A modern Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Dhalai district to enhance healthcare accessibility in remote tribal zones.
  • Upgraded road and bridge infrastructure in Khowai and Sepahijala districts, designed to ensure better connectivity between rural and urban areas.

Each of these projects was funded through a combination of state government resources and centrally sponsored schemes, reflecting Tripura’s active collaboration with the Union government.

Strengthening Tribal Welfare: CM Manik Saha

A key highlight of the Chief Minister’s speech was his renewed commitment to tribal development. With tribal communities making up over 30% of the state’s population, initiatives that address their unique challenges remain a high priority.

Dr. Saha said the new PHC in Dhalai would especially benefit tribal residents who previously had to travel long distances for basic medical attention.

“No one in Tripura should be denied healthcare because of geography. Our tribal brothers and sisters deserve quality services, and we are working to make that a reality,” he said.

Citizen-Centric Infrastructure

Tripura’s development model is gradually shifting toward smart, scalable, and sustainable infrastructure. The newly launched roadworks and public buildings have been designed to meet current needs. Also, while anticipating future population and traffic demands.

The CM also announced plans to introduce green-building codes and digital grievance redressal systems in upcoming projects.

“We want our systems to be efficient, accessible, and built to last. Transparency and innovation will drive our infrastructure push,” Dr. Saha said.

Healthcare Reforms Accelerate

The new PHC is part of a broader push to strengthen primary and preventive healthcare across Tripura. Under the state’s Health Mission, over 10 rural health centers are currently under renovation, with new recruitment drives for medical staff already underway.

Opposition Reaction

While the ruling BJP government has touted these initiatives as “transformative,” opposition leaders have urged for faster implementation and greater oversight on budget spending. CPI(M) spokesperson Bijan Dhar commented, “Announcing projects is one thing; ensuring timely completion and public benefit is what really matters.”

Public Response and Next Steps

Local residents have welcomed the government’s proactive measures. Manika Debbarma, a resident of Ambassa, said, “We’ve been asking for a local health centre for years. I hope this brings real change.”

Dr. Saha concluded by stating that more projects would be unveiled in the coming months, especially in sectors like education, women’s welfare, and rural employment.
