In a major crackdown on illegal drugs, the Tripura Police have seized 8 kg of cannabis from a vehicle in West Tripura district. The vehicle was intercepted by a police patrol team on NH-44 near Dharmanagar town on Wednesday.
The police said that they were conducting a routine check when they noticed a suspicious vehicle. Upon inspection, they found a large quantity of cannabis hidden in the vehicle. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
The seizure has come as a major blow to the illegal drug trade in Tripura. The state has been grappling with a drug problem for many years, and the police have been working hard to curb the menace.
