Tripura’s Chief Minister, Manik Saha, announced on Saturday that a Special Task Force (STF) has been established to address the issue of organised criminal groups in the state. The STF will operate under the jurisdiction of the Crime Branch of Tripura Police, and its chief will be a Superintendent of Police. Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, stated in a Facebook post that the STF has been formed to take focused action against various criminal activities, including extortion gangs, criminal syndicates, and organised criminal groups.
