On January 1, the Tripura government signed an agreement worth Rs 2275 crore in Agartala. The agreement is for a project that aims the improvement of Tripura Poer Distribution Strengthening and Generation efficiency. The Deputy Chief Minister said that it is by far the highest investment made. Also, it is among the single biggest project in the history of Tripura in the infrastructure sector.
The agreement is with ADB. And the agreement was signed between Brijesh Pandey, Secretary, Power of Tripura, and Officer-in-Charge of ADB’s India Resident Mission Nilaya Mitash. The whole concept of this very project is to improve the power plants and strengthen the distribution, and also will increase electricity for enhancing the state’s economy.
All the consumers will have about 6000 employment opportunities. This will turn into huge benefits. Further, this project is intended on supporting at least 15 specific women’s self-help groups. On the investment of Rs 800 crore, the state government is implementing result-based reform linked RDSS Scheme to enhance the economic and operational viability of the Corporation. It is one of the huge and heavy investments of the state government.
