Manik Saha on Tuesday announced that Tripura has gained national recognition in grassroots governance. Three panchayat bodies from the state secured top honours in the Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Nanaji Deshmukh Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar 2025. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj instituted the awards to promote sustainable rural development.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the achievement. He said the recognition reflects Tripura’s consistent progress in strengthening rural administration and inclusive growth.

Top Rankings Across Categories
According to the Chief Minister, Sepahijala district secured Rank 1 in the Best District Panchayat category. Kanchabari Gram Panchayat also achieved Rank 1 in the Healthy Panchayat category. Meanwhile, Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat earned Rank 3 in the Women-Friendly Panchayat category.
These rankings highlight the strong performance of local governance institutions in the state. They also show the growing focus on health, gender inclusion, and administrative efficiency at the grassroots level.
Financial Incentives Announced
The award-winning bodies will receive financial incentives from the government. Sepahijala district will get ₹5 crore for its top ranking. Kanchabari Gram Panchayat will receive ₹1 crore. Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat will be awarded ₹50 lakh.
Officials said these funds will support further development activities. Local bodies can use the incentives to strengthen infrastructure and public services.
Boost to Grassroots Governance
The Chief Minister congratulated elected representatives, officials, and local residents. He credited their efforts for the achievement. He also said the recognition is a matter of pride for the state.
Saha stressed that strong grassroots governance drives overall development. He added that such awards encourage panchayats to adopt people-centric policies and sustainable practices.
