The Tripura Police has issued a public advisory urging all property owners across the state to verify the identities of their tenants in an effort to curb rising incidents of criminal activities originating from rented accommodations.
In its notice, the police department highlighted a growing trend of individuals with criminal backgrounds taking advantage of anonymity in unfamiliar areas by residing in rental properties. To address this, all landlords have been requested to submit tenant details to the nearest Police Station or Out Post using a prescribed tenant verification form.
This initiative is part of a broader preventive strategy aimed at safeguarding public safety and maintaining law and order. The tenant verification forms are available at all Police Stations and Out Posts, and can also be downloaded from the official Tripura Police website: https://police.tripura.gov.in.
Tripura Police further emphasized that complying with this protocol is crucial, as failure to verify tenants could lead to legal complications if any unlawful activity is later traced back to the rented premises.
The department has called for full public cooperation to ensure a safer and more secure environment across the state.
