Remote Village Gets Electricity After Years

Now, villagers can access reliable electricity through renewable energy. Moreover, the project is expected to improve education, communication, and daily household activities.
Officials also installed solar-powered street lights in the village. As a result, residents can move more safely during the night.
Minister Highlights Renewable Energy Push
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the project during a public programme in the village.
He said Khamkasa Kami is one of 347 remote habitations in Tripura where geographical barriers make conventional grid connections difficult.
Therefore, the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) started installing solar microgrids in inaccessible areas with support from the PM-DeVINE scheme.
According to the minister, around 11,933 people across Tripura have already benefited from similar renewable energy projects.
Clean Water Facility Added
Besides electricity, the project also introduced a solar-operated water pump in the village.
The new facility will help residents access clean drinking water more easily. In addition, the water system may improve public health conditions in the settlement.
Officials believe these facilities will strengthen rural development in remote tribal regions.
Government Plans Livelihood Support
Ratan Lal Nath, who also handles the Agriculture Department, assured villagers of further support.
He said the department may provide fruit saplings such as mango and jackfruit to villagers. Consequently, residents may develop horticulture-based livelihood opportunities in the future.
The government aims to improve both infrastructure and income opportunities in remote areas.
