In a bold push toward digital transformation, the Tripura government has announced its plan to develop advanced data centers to harness the power of AI-5G synergy in Tripura. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made the announcement at the Rising Northeast Investors’ Summit 2025 in New Delhi. Also, highlighting the state’s commitment to adopting next-generation technologies.
A Vision for Future-Ready Infrastructure
Speaking at a special session titled ‘IT for Ashtalakshmi: Beyond the Bits and Bytes, Into AI and 5G’, CM Saha emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G are no longer technologies of the future, but essential tools for current and future development.
“AI reduces operational complexity by using intelligent algorithms to complete tasks faster and more efficiently. When combined with 5G’s ultra-fast data transfer capabilities, the synergy opens doors to real-time innovations, smarter services, and reduced costs,” Saha said.
He pointed out that the AI-5G synergy in Tripura will create fertile ground for smart governance. Furthermore, real-time analytics, improved healthcare, and enhanced agricultural systems.
Strategic Role of DoNER and Investor Participation
The Rising Northeast Investors’ Summit was hosted by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), drawing policymakers, investors, and technology leaders from across India. CM Saha praised DoNER’s efforts to spotlight Northeast India’s technological and economic potential.
“Events like these enable Tripura to align with national growth agendas while showcasing our unique capabilities and investor-friendly policies,” he said, inviting industry leaders to invest in Tripura’s tech-enabled future.
Key Benefits of AI-5G Synergy in Tripura
The planned AI-5G data centers are expected to bring a range of benefits across sectors. According to CM Saha:

The AI-5G project will also support Tripura’s start-up ecosystem, providing young innovators access to computing power and fast data networks. Moreover, these facilities can serve as incubation centers for AI-driven businesses, IoT start-ups, and smart infrastructure projects.
Tripura IT Secretary Sandeep Ranjan said the initiative will involve partnerships with both public and private players, including technology firms, universities, and government think tanks.

While the vision is ambitious, officials acknowledged the challenges ahead—especially related to funding, skilled workforce availability, and security.
